EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Dr. Stephen Scheper completed osteopathic medical school at Ohio University, where he learned the skills of hands-on manipulation of the body and gained an appreciation for how important the structural balance and alignment is on our on overall health. He later trained in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Emory University in Atlanta, concentrating on musculoskeletal orthopedic care as well as inpatient rehabilitation involving stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury and neuromuscular disorders. While in Atlanta, he served as Chief Resident of the Emory Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and on the clinical faculty at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine – Georgia Campus.

HAWAII PRACTICE
Following residency, Dr. Scheper came to Hawaii and completed a two-year academic fellowship in sports, spine and electrodiagnostic medicine with Portner Orthopedic Rehabilitation. Following his fellowship, he stayed on to help establish our satellite clinic in Kaneohe on the windward side of Oahu and continues to serve our community as a student mentor, educator and volunteer.

Dr. Scheper is a board certified Diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and an active member of the Hawaii Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Hawaii Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, and American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has a budding family with a loving wife and two children. He is an avid athlete who enjoys a variety of physical activities, including surfing, kitesurfing, sailing, mountain biking, soccer, tennis, running and backpacking.

Dr. Scheper has always embraced in medicine the same fundamental principle that exists in our universe: A body in motion will stay in motion, and a body at rest will stay at rest.
